Our National Flag
A
national flag is a matter of pride for any nation. As an independent nation, we
have a national flag of our own. Our national flag is the symbol of
independence and sovereignty. It is rectangular in size. There is a red circle
in the middle of green colour. The ratio of the length and width of the flag is
10:6. Red and green colours are used in it. They symbolize that the martyrs who
laid down their valuable lives for the independence of our country are
evergreen. Late artist Kamrul Hasn designed it. It is hoisted on different
occasions. It was first hoisted on the premises of the University of Dhaka on
the 2nd March 1971. The design of that flag was a little bit
different earlier. Then the map of Bangladesh was in the middle of red colour.
Later, the map of Bangladesh was omitted from the national flag. However, our
national flag is our identity. It encourages us to be united to keep the honour
of our country. We gained this flag through the martyrdom of about 30 lakh
people. In fact, it is made with a piece of cloth but made of blood.
